Musical Art

23 Oct

I love sheet music.

It’s such a simple representation of complicated mixes of lyrics and melodies. Even if you don’t know how to read it or aren’t musical, it can be admired as a piece of art in itself, especially the old handwritten kind.

There are a ton of ways to use sheet music around your home and you don’t have to be a musician.

One of my favorite ideas is to frame sheet music that has some importance to you – maybe your the first song you danced to at your wedding or the song that inspired your child’s name. Or just a song that makes you happy.

Check out how The Graphics Fairy used old sheet music to line the inside of a desk drawer (follow the link for a free music printable).

Of course, Pinterest has a wealth of inspiration, from this Sheet Music Wreath by Sweet Something Designs:

to these sweet ornaments from Woman on  Mission:

If you’re feeling musical, look for a book of sheet music at your local music store or do a search online. There are a lot of printables out there.

Craft stores even have sheet music scrapbook paper, if you don’t have a particular song in mind.

Have you framed sheet music or used it to create something pretty? Any songs that have special meaning for you?
