Let’s Go to Bed

27 Feb

On this Monday morning, let’s talk about the place we’d all rather be:

Bed.

Bed

How you choose to dress your bed sets the tone for your whole bedroom.

I love a neutral bed with pops of color. That way, I can switch out pillows when I want a new look, but keep the foundation pieces (i.e. the more expensive pieces) in play.

  • Duvet Cover: West Elm
  • Sheets: Royal Velvet (found at TJ Maxx)
  • Brown Pillows (not visible in picture, but I use them for depth, behind the white pillows): Target
  • Fur Pillow: I.O. Metro
  • Purple Pillows: Not sure of the brand, but found at TJ Maxx
  • Blanket: West Elm (No Longer Available)

TJ Maxx (Marshall’s and Home Goods too) is a great place to find name-brand bedding for way less.

Nate Berkus always says to buy the highest quality sheets you can afford; I agree. After all, we spend a lot of time in bed. It should be a haven. I like Egyptian Cotton sheets because they don’t pill.

The painting above my bed is from Bethany Ogle’s Etsy shop, Amborela. I love the texture – you can’t tell in my photo, but some of the flowers are silk flowers pinned to the canvas. It ties together the room simply. Check out the rest of her shop – she has some lovely work.

The other “artwork” you see in this photo? The three vertical pieces are framed from a calendar of vintage New York City pics, and the bedside piece is a framed page from a fashion illustration book. Pretty really is everywhere!

So now it’s your turn! What’s your bed look like? Neutral or colorful? Simple or decadent?
